Mommin Looks Good on Me!

wellness brand Jul 18, 2022

Teneé King started TK Tips Lifestyle in August of 2021. It is a brand that focuses on motherhood, wellness, and inspirational merchandise that shares tangible recommendations for one to live well daily and celebrate it.

She created The Mommin Collection by TK Tips which features curated jewelry, apparel, life essentials, and recommended Mommin must-haves. The collection offers quality products and stylish aesthetics to their customer. "The Mommin Collection by TK Tips – is a dedication to mothers, unconventional mothers, and "the village" that holds them down," Teneé explains. The Mommin Collection is centered around a unique definition that she created. Mommin is a person who recognizes someone who sacrifices, nurtures, and grinds for those they love while looking fly.

Teneé makes an impact on her clients by creating relatable and valuable content on social media along with building an authentic connection through engaging with her community via DM's, posts, and email. "We create merchandise that applauds their lifestyle and share wellness recommendations to help women see self-care should be second nature and wellness is not a chore," King elaborates.

"For so many years I have collaborated with other creatives on projects that have been successful. Reflecting one day I realized the impact I bought to those projects and my ability to influence. So, I decided to rely on myself and create something that reflects my upbringing and passion. Thus, the Mommin Collection by TK Tips was born," she continues

Teneé's upbringing has had a significant impact on her journey of motherhood and entrepreneurship. "Once I knew that I was going to be a mother I committed myself to being the best mother that I can be to my daughter and use my unconventional upbringing as inspiration and motivation. I put fear and disappointment from my traumatic childhood situations behind me and allowed God to lead me," she expressed.

When it comes to entrepreneurship, King used her upbringing as motivation. "I do not come from a family of entrepreneurs, so I want to show my daughter, nieces, nephews, and other family members that it is attainable"

Being a solopreneur is no easy task. Teneé is no stranger to these challenges. A designer, marketer, content creator, customer service, shipping & handling, and accountant are a few of the roles she plays in running her business. The challenge for her has been where she dedicates her time to the most while building her brand.

"I think my biggest challenge has been truly building out my social media platforms. Doing so is a full-time job. Maintaining content consistency has been tough, sometimes I am on it, and other times the ideas are in my head, but there are other pressing business needs that pulls me away from creating content. These days I have learned to not try to balance but harmonize and it all works out."

"In terms of motherhood, I am grateful to have a nice flow in my style of mommin. From the beginning, I inserted my daughter into my lifestyle and the things I enjoy doing. If I want to go to a museum I take her, eat at a 5-star restaurant, check out a festival, I take her… my daughter is my favorite plus one. She is becoming cultured and exposed while I am still enjoying things, I love to do… i.e.- harmonizing"

Healing is an ongoing journey. King was not raised by her mother after 5 years old. There has often been unsettled trauma from this. "What I can say is my daughter has helped reshape my relationship with my mother. I am making a conscious effort to give her a clean slate and move forward based on the positive interactions we share currently," Teneé said.

King was able to overcome these challenges by showing up as her best self in the capacity that works for her. Although she may not pump out feed content frequently, she is consistently sharing, edutaining, and connecting via her Instagram stories.

By overcoming the challenge of not being raised by her mom, Teneé was able to reflect and understand where her mom's mindset was. " I look at it as she is a woman first, was young when she had me, and God knew what was best needed for me to be raised." King has been able to be a great mother to her daughter, an amazing wife to her husband, graduate college at 34 after being out of school for eleven years (soon to be an MBA graduate at 42), make women feel beautiful and valued through conversations and the products her brand creates and having a feeling of true peace and drama-free lifestyle. Therefore, mommin looks good on her.

Here at Jay's Intuitive Life Coaching and Inspired Healing, LLC we have a saying that we like to use. "Healing is a journey, not a destination." We asked Teneé King if she could give moms who aspire to start their businesses and continue their healing journey any advice, what would it be? She offered this, "Give yourself grace in your healing. With focus, drive, and productivity you cannot fail. You are the curator of your journey so remix, remove, and revamp as many times as you need to. Just Don't Stop!"
